South America WebQuest

7th Grade History

This webquest is designed allow students the opportunity to learn about South America. This project will combine a student’s ability to read and create maps, research, work with classmates, and present their findings to the class.

Objectives

Students will do the following:

1. Examine different aspects of the South American continent, including its geography, climate, industry, history and political boundaries.

2. Create a map of South America illustrating a particular aspect of the continent.

Directions

1. You will be assigned a group to work with on this project. Next, you will be assigned a topic to research.

2. As a group you will determine who will be responsible for each part of your project.

3. You will then be given blank South American maps to use for the project.

4. You will have access to computers, atlas’s and reference books to research your assigned topic. Use the attached list of websites.

5. You will have some class time to research and finish project requirements. This project will require work outside of the classroom.

6. You will be responsible to present your final project to the class.

General Requirements

All paragraphs must be typed.
All maps must have the following: title, key, compass star, lines of latitude and longitude and must be in color.
All questions must be answered in complete sentences.
Final project is to be turned in inside a 3 ring/brad folder.
All group members must have a speaking role in the final presentation.
Extra Credit: Your group may choose to do one of the following:

Make authentic food from a South American country for the class to sample
Bring in authentic clothing, artifacts or other South American products
Other extra credit may be available, see Mrs. Schneider for approval
