Mrs. McKeeman
I am pleased to teach kindergarten at Manitou Springs Elementary School. I have taught school since 1980 – from preschool to adult education. My teaching experience and background have been shaped by my family’s military service at posts across the country and overseas, including Missouri, California, Germany, Virginia, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and, of course, Colorado. My husband, two daughters, and I have lived in Colorado since 1998. I’m an Oklahoma Sooner and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I have also earned a Master’s Certificate from the University of Southern California in Early Childhood Education. Kindergarten promises to be a year of fun, excitement, and learning. I am eager to introduce our kindergarteners to a new world of friends, exciting experiences, and expansive learning opportunities. I consider myself to be privileged to guide your child at the outset of this amazing journey. My mission is to set the conditions for your child’s successful growth and development – academically, emotionally, physically, and socially. I want to help our kindergardeners sprint like the Manitou Mustang!

Jeana Farrell Lincoln
I have been teaching Kindergarten since 2001 and have had the good fortune to be a Manitou Mustang since 2008! After I received my Masters Degree in Education from Colorado College in 2001, I began my teaching career at Canon Elementary School in District 12 and taught there for seven years.
As Manitou Springs residents and parents of two boys in the Manitou Schools, my husband and I value the strong sense of community and small-town atmosphere of Manitou. From a teacher’s perspective, I appreciate the high standards and academic success of the Manitou Public Schools. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of the education system in our neighborhood school.
The love I have for teaching is daily returned to me as I see my students acquire new skills, make friends, and gain confidence in themselves. In creating an environment that encourages students to explore, work cooperatively, and make thoughtful choices, I consistently model the excitement and joy of the learning process. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to guide my students on the path of becoming lifelong learners.

Melissa Loftin
Despite my age, I still feel like a fairly new teacher since I really only got my teaching career going in 1988 after a 15-year break raising 5 children. I call that getting “life experience”. Educationally, I hold a BS in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University (1974) and a Masters in Special Education from the State University of New York (1993). I’ve been with Manitou since 1996 in SPED, Title, and first grade, and love the school, students and staff! Previous teaching experiences include a year of second grade in Kentucky in 1974 and 6 1/2 years teaching kindergarten in Binghamton, NY from 1989-1996.
I love being at home, laughing, singing, reading, and gardening. My husband (since 1973) and I live in Woodland Park and are the proud grandparents of seven beautiful children. Like I tell my students’ parents every year…” When it comes to children, I’ve seen it all. Nothing can surprise me, so relax. And let’s enjoy the new schoolyear.”
