MSSD14 Response to Intervention (RtI)
Response to Intervention (RtI) DefinedAt its core, RtI is a process that addresses student academic and behavioral needs through research-based interventions. Data is collected regarding student response to these interventions and adjustments are made accordingly.
We believe that . . .
• All students can learn and achieve high standards as a result of effective research-based teaching, which includes response to individual student needs.
• Intervening at the earliest indication of need is necessary for student success.
• A comprehensive system of tiered intervention is essential for addressing the full range of needs.
• Student results improve when ongoing academic and behavioral performance data re used to make informed instructional decisions.
• Collaboration among educators, students, families and community resources is the foundation to effective problem solving and instructional decision-making thereby increasing student success.
