REQUIREMENTS:
Must complete a fingerprint/background screening
Paraprofessional experience preferred

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
7.25 hours per day

DUTIES:

Small group and individual support for Special Education Program students

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Manitou Springs Elementary School seeks an upbeat, hard-working, flexible special education para support staff.

Must demonstrate skills for maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and customer service in a
position with varied and changing job assignments. Also, must demonstrate the ability to work in a
rigorous, dynamic learning environment while taking direction from teachers and other staff members.

Performs the day-to-day activities of teaching special education students while under the supervision of a
teacher. The paraprofessional does not make diagnostic or long-term education decisions regarding
special education students. This includes individuals who may or may not be licensed. Assignments may
involve non-traditional learning environments such as building and off-campus work sites.
Supports the principal and classroom teachers in implementing the Special Education programs and encourages a positive and safe learning environment. Assists the licensed special education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and other evaluative staff in the implementation of the goals of disabled students.
