Manitou Springs Final Stakeholder Results Summary

Why is there a superintendent vacancy?

The MSSD14 Board of Education voted on January 20th to approve a separation agreement with former Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Domangue. Dr. Domangue and all the board members unanimously, mutually, and amicably agreed to this decision. Her last day on campus was January 20th.

Who has assumed the role of interim superintendent?

The board followed policy and made Assistant Superintendent Eric McMartin the interim superintendent, until the next superintendent takes over.

How will the board select a new superintendent?
The board hired the executive recruitment and development firm McPherson & Jacobson to assist with the search, and their local consultant, Dr. Walt Cooper, will look for candidates from across the country for the board to consider.

Will the board ask for input during the search process?

Yes, the board will gather feedback from students, staff, families and community members throughout the superintendent search process. This will primarily take place through a number of community engagement events as well as an online survey.

What is the timeline for the superintendent search?
The search firm will post the position the week of February 20th. In late February and early March, the board will send out a survey to ask stakeholders to help define the board’s criteria as it evaluates candidates. Applications will be due in late March, and interviews with finalists will occur in April, including a public meet-and-greet opportunity. The board anticipates they will name the next superintendent by the end of April and plans to have this person start on July 1st, in time for the next school year.
