Welcome to Manitou Springs School District 14 Transportation
Last year we rolled out the new Zonar school bus scanning system to observe students getting on and off the buses for additional safety and security when it comes to student transportation. The school district uses this to monitor where and when the students ride district transportation. For example, Dale got on bus 127 at 7:15 AM at 1111 Tree Top Hill, this is when he scanned his card getting on the bus with the address shown. He then scanned his card at 7:50 AM at the high school, 405 El Monte Place as he exited the bus to attend school. This is another method of keeping your child safe and secure while they are utilizing the MSSD 14 transportation. The Zonar system is real time as the RF cards are scanned and the information is then pinged with GPS satellite for location of the card when it was scanned.
For the first six weeks of school the transportation department will be re-issuing cards from last year to returning students. They will also be collecting information from new students to the transportation department as they issue them new cards to use the Zonar scanning system.
The scan cards are free to all students for the first card issued. Students will have one card, if the card is lost or damaged an email will be sent to the parents/guardians. Replacement cards will be $5. All students need these cards to utilize district transportation. If students continue to not have their card, transportation will be denied on the PM route leaving the student at the school, the school will then call the parents for alternate transportation home.
We appreciate you working with the students on the importance of the Zonar cards and ask that you help monitor that the students take care of the card and that it is attached to their backpack. Please reach out to the transportation department with any questions dfuches@mssd14.org.
