Welcome to District 14
Welcome to Manitou Springs School District 14 — where children receive a world-class education in a small public school setting. In fact, we are the last small public school system in the Colorado Springs metropolitan area. Our mission is to establish deep, meaningful relationships with our students, their parents, and our community; offer rigorous academic programs; and provide every child with numerous opportunities to explore, experiment, and learn. Our commitment to the whole child is unparalleled. We currently offer courses ranging from aerospace engineering to ballet and advanced art; and experiences like karate, rock climbing, and running a live radio station. Additionally, we have created the Arts14 a program where over 100 children are receiving private lessons each week after school in areas like guitar, piano, voice, and violin. Manitou Springs School District 14 is the first district in our area to have a 1:1 technology program. Every student in 5th through 12th grade has been issued an iPad to use in class and at home. We have recently been given the Apple Distinguished District Award to recognize our efforts to provide an innovative learning environment to our 21stcentury students.
Is it working? Approximately 40% of our student population comes from neighboring school districts and our enrollment is at an all time high. Our graduates are attending prestigious universities like Stanford, the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado College, the University of Denver, the University of Colorado, and the Colorado School of Mines (our 115 graduates earned well over $1.8 million in college scholarships and grants in 2012). We have one of the highest graduation rates in the State of Colorado. We are preparing our students for success in college and in the work place (we have one of the lowest remediation rates in the state for students who are attending college.) Over 80% of our students are engaged in extracurricular activities, and most importantly, we have healthy, whole, happy students. Come and explore the Mustang experience—see for yourself how amazing learning can be when art, music, math, engineering, dance, technology, health, fitness, design, literature, and drama are all combined. We accept choice enrollment applications 365 days a year! We hope to hear from you soon.
