Dear Manitou Springs School District 14 Community,
This letter is written with the sincere intent of communicating my
excitement for stepping into the role of Superintendent of Schools for
Manitou Springs School District 14’s (MSSD).
As the child of an early childhood educator and for as far back as I can
remember, I have always considered the ways in which schools can
support all learners through opportunity, excellence, innovation, and
wellness. I have been paying close attention to the aspects of schools
and communities that inspire learning and spark curiosity for each
student, while also authentically engaging parents, families, staff,
community partners, and other stakeholders. It is clear to me that
Manitou Springs School District 14 has a long legacy of creating
opportunities, building spaces, and nurturing strong traditions that
support the Whole School, Whole Community, and Whole Child, which is in
direct alignment to my beliefs--as an educator and a citizen. That is, I
believe that every student deserves to learn from highly effective
educators who are consistently using best practices that engage learners
in rigorous, relevant, collaborative, safe, and innovative
opportunities.
As your Superintendent of Schools, I will lead (as I always have) with
integrity, courage, authenticity, innovation, respect, honesty,
perseverance, resourcefulness, creativity, responsibility,
professionalism, heart, and drive in order to collaboratively lead the
District in practices that continue to:
•Support the development of teaching and learning experiences for all
students while hiring, training, and retaining the most effective and
committed licensed and classified staff,
•Promote and support the Arts, Athletics, Connect14, Gifted and
Talented, Special Education, and the many other great opportunities that
are already available to MSSD students,
•Recognize the accomplishments of all (both successes and “almosts” that lead to new learnings),
•Utilize and manage resources (e.g., fiscal, human, facility, equipment, technology) appropriately, legally, and ethically,
•Sustain and foster community partnerships and relationships that are aligned to MSSD’s vision, mission, and end statements,
•Develop effective methods of communicating and advocating (including
policy at the State level in accordance with the District’s goals), and
•Create multiple opportunities for increasing leadership density for students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.
Manitou Springs School District 14’s continued drive towards
“Relationships, Deep Learning, and Opportunity” will be at the heart of
my leadership. I believe fully and completely in Manitou Springs School
District 14. I will be a committed champion who is a learner, advocate,
teacher, and listener.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Domangue, PhD
